'Gold Coast' of Florida
The GOLD COAST is located on the Atlantic coast of South Florida, below Florida's TREASURE COAST, and includes the cities of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. In some sources Palm Beach is included though its definition is changing as Palm Beach is increasingly, over time, being associated with the TREASURE COAST. The GOLD COAST is the region of Florida that runs along the southeastern coast of the state after Palm Beach and through the Miami area coastline.
The GOLD COAST includes not only the cities of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, but also Boca Raton, Pompano Beach, Coral Gables and Hollywood among others. The coastal areas of Broward and Miami-Dade counties are generally considered Florida's GOLD COAST that includes the pristine, sandy shores of Boca Raton to the high-rise studded shoreline of the Greater Miami area.
One of the best known of Florida's vernacular regions, the name is a reference to the wealth, high cost of living and glittering, ritzy lifestyle said to characterize the area. With the continuous inbound migration of the northern U.S. population and international population, along with a very modest outbound movement, the investments made in real property were termed "gold" - hence the name - GOLD COAST.
Florida's GOLD COAST includes more than 65 miles of beautiful Atlantic shoreline, from the natural splendor of the Florida Everglades, to the vibrant and colorful Art Deco architecture of Miami, the GOLD COAST boasts a rare blend of diversity and culture. With a wealth of history in natural beauty, it's no wonder this area is a playground for the rich and famous and home to so many well known celebrities. Florida's GOLD COAST offers an abundance of fun for everyone.
Fine dining, entertainment and nightlife are second to none - and the list of activities is abundant. Adorned with world class golf courses, parks and recreational areas, with an endless list of available water sporting activities, Florida's GOLD COAST is a glamorous and exciting area.
